It was the summer of 2019 and Google released Jetpack Compose and Apple released SwiftUI. Both are declarative UI frameworks written in modern languages, Kotlin and Swift respectively. Both provide tooling around live preview and have an API for working with reactive data sources. Is this a reaction to the growing trend of developers using React or Vue on the web or was Elm just ahead of the curve and this is the natural progression of UI programming. Maybe an insider will tell us how long Apple worked on SwiftUI prior to release? Either way I could not be more pleased with where the ecosystem is headed.
